The Norwegian government is considering several types of frigates from various NATO allies, including the United States. Fincantieri Marine Group (FMG) is the American subsidiary of global maritime giant Fincantieri, the only shipbuilder active in naval, commercial, and offshore sectors. FMG oversees Fincantieri Marinette Marine, which builds the U.S. Navy’s new guided missile frigates.
“We are ramping up construction efforts on a remarkable frigate in Marinette, Wisconsin,” said Marco Galbiati, FMG CEO, speaking of the Constellation-class.
Strategic expansion
Fincantieri Marine Group’s lead on the Norway frigate opportunity is Dave Forster, VP of Business Development. The past few months have been busy for Forster and his colleagues in fellow Fincantieri group Vard. As Norway reviews the options, Forster wanted to establish a liaison space where FMG and Vard can collaborate and meet with potential supply chain partners in the Norway.

As Norway looks to bolster its international strategic partnerships and reconstitute its primary naval vessels (Nansen-class frigates) with a modern, survivable class of ships, we believe that Constellation-class frigates, built in Norway, by and for Norwegians, offer the Kingdom a unique chance to own the best solution.
