Lifecycle upgrade onboard DOF vessel Skandi Hercules
Vard Electro has successfully completed a switchboard upgrade onboard the Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessel Skandi Hercules, owned by DOF. The work was carried out at ST Engineering's shipyard in Singapore during a planned docking, ensuring minimal impact on the vessel’s operational schedule.

The upgrade included installation of a new SeaQ Switchboard, delivered in line with DNV requirements, providing a more robust and future-ready power distribution system. The scope also involved necessary modifications to existing electrical infrastructure to support new operational equipment and ensure overall system compatibility and reliability.
Further, modifications were carried out on the vessel’s ROV switchboard to accommodate a new Launch and Recovery System. This enables safe and efficient handling of ROV operations, supporting the vessel’s ability to perform advanced subsea work with increased operational flexibility.
In parallel, a maintenance upgrade of the SeaQ Integrated Automation System was completed, strengthening control and ensuring continued stable operation across critical onboard systems.
The project reflects close collaboration across Vard Electro’s global organization. Engineering was carried out by our teams in Norway and Romania, while the switchboard and distribution cabinets were designed and built at Vard Electro’s own switchboard facility in Romania. The upgrade was executed on-site in Singapore, where our team worked closely with the customer to ensure efficient installation and commissioning.
By aligning the upgrade with scheduled docking, the vessel now benefits from improved performance and reliability without unnecessary downtime – a key success factor in demanding offshore operations.
