What we did

VARD utilized its integrated value chain to build, equip and deliver the Jan Mayen class vessels. The hulls were constructed at Vard Shipyard Romania – Tulcea, while final outfitting and delivery took place at Vard Langsten in Norway. By leveraging Norwegian suppliers and adhering to the Navy’s specifications, VARD ensured the vessels were optimized for Arctic operations, featuring ice reinforcements, modern sensors, and environmentally friendly solutions. Close collaboration with the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency and the Coast Guard ensured the vessels met all operational and strategic needs.
